From the Classrooms:
St. Joseph's Room:
Dear Parents:
Because children form their personalities for the most part in the first three years of their lives, their experiences during that period are crucial to their development as responsible, caring and happy individuals who are prepared to handle life as vicissitudes.
In reflecting on what I could do to help in that regard, I concluded that what the very young children in our care most needed was a sense of security that maintained a continuum with their home - helping them to view the Center as an extension of - rather than a break from - the home environment where they know love, safety and protection.
That has always been my goal, and I have always attempted to treat each and every child with the same care and kindness that I provided my own four, now-grown children.
I thank God for having had this opportunity, for I am one of the fortunate people who has awakened each day looking forward to going to work.
But its time to move on. I would like to think that the children are getting more and more energetic each year, but I am a realist and have to face the fact that they are the same from one new class to another I am the one who is slowing down. So my husband and I will be retiring to the beautiful Four Corners area of Colorado, coming back for a few months each year to spend time with my children and my beautiful little grandson (the first of many grandchildren, I pray).
The classroom will be welcoming Ms. Molly from Bl. Maria Teresas room as lead teacher along with Ms. Erica and new commer Ms. Janet who will join us June 1st who has been an assistant for many years from St. Genevieve.
I wish you and your precious children the very best.
Ms. Mona
Please make sure your child has a change of clothes and that they are marked clearly with their name on each item of clothing.
If your child is having a birthday we ask that they buy a book for the room or something from the Birthday Wish List, we will make the birthday treat with the children in the room.
Reminder: If your child is 3 they must be potty trained in order to move to the next room, there will be no availability in the 2yr, old room for children who are 3 and not potty trained.
St. Therese's Room:
Dear Parents:
Welcome to all our new classmates as well as our new assistants Ms. Alice and Sister.
St. Therese has been busy learning about different animals: pets, farm, zoo and dinosaurs. We also had a very successful turn-out at our annual Spring Sing at St. Agnes Home. Thank you to all parents for attending, the children love to share our passion for singing?
Were now preparing for gardening projects and investigating insects. Please remember, now that warmer weather has arrived, that your child has a complete change of clothing, a light jacket and a blanket for nap, dont forget to label all items.
Ms. Emily, Alice, Sr. Guadalupe and Dolores
Bl. Maria Teresa's Room:
Dear Parents:
We just wanted to say it was a great and fun year for us! We thank you for all of your help and support; we will miss the children that will be leaving and moving on to St. Johns. We look forward to the new children and classrooms that we will be moving to, and welcome the children coming to Bl. Maria Teresas room. Take note that starting summer session I, Ms. Molly and Sr. Ana Maria will be moving to other classrooms. I will be lead teacher in St. Josephs room and Sr. Anna Maria will be moving to St. Johns classroom. Ms. Besima will stay in Bl. Maria Teresas room with Ms. Alice and the new lead teacher
Ms. Mary. We all look forward to a bright and fun year!
Some of our up coming themes are Mothers Day, Flowers, and Zoo animals. We will be starting our summer themes in the beginning of June. Our water days will start in June, make sure your child has the appropriate clothing and swim suit, towel and sunscreen, and make sure all are clearly marked with your childs name.
God bless,
Ms. Molly, Sr. Anna Maria and Besima
St. John of the Cross:
Dear Parents,
St. John of the Cross has been participating happily this spring by creating a wonderful vegetable garden. We are digging, hoeing, planting, and watering. Please come and see rows of red cabbage, lettuce, peas, and strawberries. The children are very proud of their garden.
We are getting ready for the up coming Farewell Mass, which is, May 23, 2010 at St. Agnes Chapel at 3:00 pm we ask that your children are here by 2:30 pm at the day care. We are making our own rosaries to be blessed by the priest on our special day.
We have been learning numbers, letters through word and picture modules in preparation for kindergarten. We will miss all the children leaving us and will welcome all the new children coming to our classroom.
We welcome Ms. Beth as lead teacher; she has spent the last nine years at Lindbergh Early Childhood Education. She received her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood from the University of MO-Saint Louis in 2004. She has experience working with 2-12 year olds in her previous job. She is very excited to meet and get to know the children and their families. She looks forward to making many memories.
As we welcome a new teacher we regret that we bid Ms. Marlene farewell in her retirement.
God Bless,
Ms. Beth, Ms. Marlene. Ms. Rasima and Ms. Alice
Ms. Marlene: It seems like only yesterday that I was hired by Sr. Mary Joseph to work in the five year olds for the summer program and now it is near summer again, but this time I am retiring to begin a new chapter in my life, which will be filled with writing, reading, learning, serving others in many aspects. There is also the possibility of a move to Chicago to be closer to my precious baby twin granddaughters, Ivy and Amelia.
I have so loved and enjoyed all of your children (probably over 300 of them). The good new is that I run into them sometimes when I an out and about. And one of the most precious things besides seeing them is to listen to them and what they are doing now.
Please keep me in your prayers as I will keep you all in mine. And thank you for all these meaningful years! God bless,
Marlene

Dear Parents:
Everyone at Carmelite hope you had a very blessed Easter and now are ready for spring. We also want to thank you for your kindness and support in our many projects!

We know you could share nothing more precious with us than your children!

Ms. Marlene Miller will be retiring too. Both Ms. Mona and Ms. Marlene have been at the center over 10 years, we were fortunate to have had them for these years. Our prayers are with you where ever you go!
With the leaving of teachers also welcomes the coming of new teachers and a few changes, but which should all be for the positive. We welcome Ms. Beth Howard to St. Johns; we will welcome Ms. Mary Roche to Bl. Maria Teresas and Ms. Janet Bennett to St. Josephs room.

Prayer Corner:
A Mothers Prayer
Help me, dear Lord, as a mother, I pray
And bless these folded hands in prayer today;
May they be ever strong as they guide,
As they teach
Being never too far for a child to reach.
May they never, with selfishness,
Try to dissuade,
Nor too quickly punish, nor too slowly aid,
May they point out the pleasures
In song and laughter,
And may they show wisely,
The right form the wrong.
So that one day Ill know that
Ive helped all I can,
To make her a woman, to make him a man.
